About this House
Summary:
Welcome to our humble little coastal style apartment that sits right on McKay Bay. This 1/1 is right across the street from the water, so bring your fishing poles! We tried to decorate our home with Santa Barbara California vibes with all white paint, and coastal decor. The home is just minutes from Downtown Tampa, Ybor City, Channelside, etc. You’ll be a quick Uber or drive to anything in the city, or you can just relax at the apartment and enjoy the water views.
The Space:
The space is coastal themed since its right across from McKay bay. If you’re into fishing, I’d bring your fishing poles to enjoy fishing just outside your door! Clean apartments with snow white paint and pops of wood and blue tones to help make you feel like you’re in Santa Barbara while enjoying the bay views.
Guest Access:
Guests will have full access to the 1 bedroom 1 bathroom apartment which has a full kitchen and a couch, and an air mattress. There’s also a desk set up for a workspace.
The Neighborhood:
Palmetto Beach, Tampa sits right on McKay Bay and is a small waterfront hidden gem of Tampa. Even as a Tampa resident I lived here many years and didn’t know about Palmetto Beach. It’s on its own little peninsula just off of Downtown Tampa that not a lot of people know about. But in an exploding Real Estate market, lately it’s quickly been gaining steam and popularity for its beautiful water views. If you walk along the water it’ll eventually lead you to a large city park (Desoto Park) which has a gazebo, playgrounds, skatepark and a public swimming pool that is a few dollars to get in. Most likely when you tell other Tampa Residents you’re staying in Palmetto Beach they won’t even know where it is! We like to try to keep it Tampa’s best kept secret for as long as we can!
Getting Around:
Walkable to the water of course which is right across the street, and you can occasionally grab one of the city scooters to rent (if there are any close by). If not, car/Uber is the way to go. If you’re heading back from downtown it would be an easy scooter ride or Uber home if needed!
Other Things to Note:
This home sits just minutes to everything in and around Tampa. You’ll be less than 5 minutes drive to everything Downtown has to offer while being right on the water.
Interaction with Guests:
Availability via the messenger 24/7! Just let us know if you need anything!

Reviews indicate that this property has a great location, is clean, and offers beautiful views, making it suitable for a peaceful getaway. Many guests praised the host's excellent communication and responsiveness, which helped resolve issues during their stay. However, there are notable concerns regarding maintenance, such as uncomfortable beds, broken door locks, and limited kitchen amenities. Overall, while the property has its charm and advantages, potential renters should be aware of the need for some updates and repairs.
Left at 12am in the morning/bed was horrible
We left at midnight due to the bed/bedroom. Both of us hurt are feet on the metal bed frame and new cushy bed and mattress bedding is desperately needed

Best host ever
The house we rented was not up to expectations, (not properly cleaned) and called the host who was excellent on getting everything taken care of. She went above and beyond to make sure everything was taken care of. Can’t say enough about how awesome the host was. Our stay turned out great after the host changed our location.

The view was pretty. The bed was comfortable. However, the property was in need of some fixes. One big problem was that the front door wouldn’t lock due to broken door hardware. I was able to fix it momentarily, but then the electronic key pad died. I contacted customer service, but didn’t get a resolution until the end of the day. This meant I had to leave the house unlocked all day. That took away from the peacefulness of our vacation.

This place is a scam!!
We have stayed in many VRBOs and places like this gives the whole business a bad name. We were planning on staying one night in Tampa to catch a Lightning game and we’re meeting family at 3p. I sent a message via the Vrbo messaging to ask for an early check in about 2p. I received what looked like a standard text with the check in info and instructions for the door. We parked in front and tried the door lock. It worked so we were just going to leave our things and hop in our waiting ride share. When we tried to lock the door it didn’t work. We tried several times and decided to just put our things back in our car and we left for our meeting. On the way I sent another vrbo message to tell the 'host' what happened and the guy was mad that we went in before 4. I explained I thought we could since he sent the instructions. And we were sorry we couldn’t get it locked and wouldn’t be back until late.. 9:30p . He was very unfriendly. Well we got back around 11p and we couldn’t get in. After several tries waiting in a questionable neighborhood, we got in our car. I sent a message to the host to tell him we couldn’t get in and were leaving since it is so late and not sure if he would even get the message til morning. He now says we couldn't get in because we illegally entered before 4p. He neglected to tell us he locked us out. Don’t bother with this place or this ‘host’!! BTW it looked like the door has been busted open. He's refusing to give us our $$ back.

Cute waterfront stay
Cute one bedroom house! My friend and I stayed and the view was beautiful! Neighborhood was a little run down but the house itself was cute! Checkout was easy and communication was great! Cooking was a little difficult with no dishwasher and an older electric stove but overall, no complaints! Great place! Very centrally located to awesome spots!

Hidden Gem
Awesome little duplex on McKay Bay. Close to everything downtown, and the unit itself is very cute. Check in was easy and communication with the host was outstanding. Will definitely book again when staying in Tampa.

Beautiful home.
This property was perfect for my husband and I for the weekend! We attended two events at the Amalie Arena and it was a short drive to get there! The house was extremely clean and had everything we needed! The area was super quiet and we had a parking spot right in front of the house! Everything was just perfect! Next time we’re back in Tampa we will definitely look to booking this place again!

Great quiet home away from home.
Wonderfully clean, easy to find, nice quiet neighborhood. Calming decorative style, we loved it. The only thing was the fold out couch was broken so they had an air mattress to use instead. That was not a problem for our 9 year old but maybe be inconvenient for others.
