About this House

Located in the heart of Historic Soulard within walking distance to the neighborhood coffeeshops, used book store, Farmer's Market, and dozens of locally-owned restaurants and bars. The Dackel is a light-filled, two-story loft-style townhouse with a private entrance and off-street assigned parking with enough room to park two vehicles in tandem (one in front of the other). Amenities are conducive for a short or long-term stay. The brick courtyard is a relaxing space to enjoy your morning cup of coffee!

The space includes a full kitchen and living room on the main floor. The second floor starts with a spiral staircase and features an ultra comfortable King bed, full bath, and large walk-in closet. All basic cooking essentials, coffeemaker with fresh roasted coffee, linens, towels, iron, hair dryer, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, high speed internet, and a 48" SMART TV, and record player with records are provided. Free washer and dryer, with complimentary laundry detergent, are located in the basement for your use.

The private front entrance has code locks for easy self check-in. You'll be provided with a personal code prior to your arrival, which will be unique to you.

My wife, Laura, and I live three City blocks from the The Dackel. We'll assume you'd like completely privacy during your visit, but if you need immediate personal assistance, we can meet you within minutes.

Please note that while the location provides you with the benefit of convenient access to great restaurants, bars, and shops, you will be in a bustling entertainment district and may be subject to occasional urban sounds, such as a loud car or excited group of bar-hoppers walking past your home.

The Dackel is next door to The Dachshund and and The Doxie, which are similar Townhouses to the instant listing. If you are looking to accommodate more guests, you can rent one, two, or three spaces at once if they are available! Because we operate adjacent townhomes, we try our absolute best to book wonderful guests to ensure your neighbors are respectful. As a result, we do NOT host guests that are local to St. Louis and/or with 0 reviews! This our non-negotiable policy.

The Dackel can accommodate a maximum of 2 guests. NO additional guests will be permitted on the property at any time for any reason during your stay, unless they have been pre-approved.

* If you are looking for a long-term rental (two or more weeks) due to a work or family commitment, please send me a message and we can discuss a discounted rate based on the length of time of your planned extended stay.

Property Reviews
At A Glance!
Reviews indicate that this property is highly praised for its excellent location in the historic Soulard neighborhood, with many attractions and amenities within walking distance. Guests frequently mention the cleanliness, thoughtful decor, and well-equipped nature of the property, as well as the exceptional communication and hospitality from the hosts. The only notable drawback is the single bathroom located on the second floor, which may be inconvenient for older guests due to the spiral staircase. Overall, the sentiment is overwhelmingly positive, with many guests expressing a desire to return.
Great place! Awesome place and great location! Perfect little spot that was great for my wife and I. Can walk and get anywhere in the neighborhood very easily. We will definitely being staying there again on our next visit to St Louis!

Close to the fun! Property was clean, in a very good location close to all the attractions in Soulard. Only downfall was the 1 and only bathroom was located up on the second floor- via the spiral staircase each and every time. Would not be so easy for older persons.

BEST little spot to stay in Soulard!! I don't know if this comment box can hold all the great things I have to say about The Dackel, Jim & Laura, and the historic Soulard neighborhood in St. Louis. I'll try, though because this place is amazing! First off, the information provided for arrival, parking, and check-in is very helpful and accurate. The keypad makes self check-in a smooth process. Upon opening the door and walking into our townhouse, we were over the moon that it looks exactly like the pictures and instantly felt like home. It's decorated so well with a mid century modern + retro mix that works really well and creates a "lived-in" cozy effect. We loved playing music on the record player and even donated an Urban Cowboy soundtrack to the collection from our visit to The Soulard Farmers Market, which is just a short 3ish block walk away. Actually, nearly everything you need is a short walk away! We frequented The Protagonist Cafe where there is a big selection of used books in a large variety of genres, a good wine selection, and awesome coffee & pastries. Even with two bars a stone's throw from the place, we really didn't experience much noise from those establishments. We felt safe coming and going, although we weren't out really late at anytime during our stay. We enjoyed meeting our neighbors in the adjoining units and spent a lot of time hanging out on the patio visiting and drinking wine. The place is FULLY equipped with everything you need & the binder has very detailed info. Hope to return soon!

Perfect Stay I can’t rate this property and owner high enough. The owner was accommodating and allowed an early check-in. The property was clean, in a great location, and came with a few extra perks in the fridge! We will look to stay here for all of our future trips to St. Louis.

All the small details add up The owner, Jim, communicated before our visit with all the info needed to help us quickly and easily locate the property and check-in. The fridge was loaded with complimentary snack and water and a bottle of wine. The welcome book listed everything we needed to know about the property itself and included info on local eateries, the farmers market and which day to visit, local attractions and more. The decor of the property inside and out was loaded with thoughtful and unique touches tying in the theme. The bathroom was loaded with amenities such as plush towels and bathrobes, fresh cloths for makeup removal, and bath wash, conditioner and shampoo - just to name a few. These are just a few of the details that helped make our stay a 5 star success!

Just Lovely This property is just lovely! The apartment itself is spacious and clean, and the decor is curated perfectly. The location is central in Soulard, but not too noisy with the night life (even with an infant). Will definitely be staying here again! Thank you, James!

Perfection We loved everything about this place, but cannot beat the attention to detail the hosts pour into this listing. Everything from parking, directions, recommendations & accommodations they left nothing out. And top notch communicators, too! We had such a lovely stay.
