About this Cabin
***Please Read Entire Description Before Booking*** The Beaver Lodge at Dragonfly Lake is a modern off-grid cabin, hanging on the edge of the lake. It is located on a secluded and private 20 acres in the foothills of the Appalachian mountains. This cabin has a king bed with a private deck on the top floor, two bunk beds, a full kitchen, one full bathroom and a 600 sq. ft. deck for family gatherings or just relaxing! There are various water sport activities like fishing, kayaking, or paddle boating and plenty of hiking trails to explore the great outdoors! This is a nature lovers paradise... enjoy watching ducks, geese, blue heron, egrets, hawks, varieties of turtles, largemouth bass, catfish, bluegill, deer and many more animals. The cabin is a short 700 ft hike from the parking area. Please note that this hike is up and down a decent grade, so please plan accordingly and take this in consideration if any one in your party has physical limitations. This is off-grid living all powered by solar and mother nature.
The linens are all provided for you.
You can also expect to find all the necessary kitchen utensils and dishes to prepare a scrumptious meal for your family. There is a refrigerator, 2 burner range, toaster oven, microwave and coffee maker in the kitchen and there is also a BBQ grill with side burner just off the deck that you may use. The only thing you need to bring is food and drink!
The lodge is GREEN! Well it’s really tan colored but it’s green because it runs of solar power. For this reason, we ask that you leave all your power tools and space heaters at home. There are small energy efficient fans provided for your use. You are not permitted to bring any other fans, appliances or any other items that consume power other than small low energy consuming electronic devices. Please remember to turn off lights and other devices that are not in use.
During your stay you are welcome to enjoy the lake, we have kayaks just under the deck and a paddle-boat tied to the floating dock. You are welcome to use them all, weather permitting, just please return them to their proper place and in the same condition you found them in. The lake is deep so please make sure to keep any non-swimmers safe with the use of flotation devices. If you plan to fish you are welcome to bring your own fishing gear. The lake is stocked with bluegill, large-mouth bass, and catfish but it is nature so you may find other species that we don’t know about!
We also provide additional seasonal paid experiences for your enjoyment and will communicate those to you after booking.
We also provide firewood so you don't have to worry about packing it!!!
Other things you will probably want to pack for your stay include:
Sturdy shoes for walking to your cabin and exploring the trails. Please ask to see what is available/restricted during your stay.
Flashlights/Headlamps for navigating outside after dark
Bug spray
Jacket/long pants (it can get chilly in the evenings in the spring and fall)

Reviews indicate that this property offers a secluded and peaceful retreat, ideal for those looking to unwind and enjoy nature. Guests frequently praised the beautiful location, well-maintained trails, and the thoughtful hospitality of the hosts. However, some reviews mentioned issues such as the steep walk from the parking area, inconsistent water temperature, and occasional maintenance concerns like a dirty grill and uncomfortable furniture. Overall, the sentiment is mostly positive, with many guests appreciating the off-grid experience and the opportunity to disconnect.
This property is a hidden GEM!
It's always such a pleasure to arrive at a holiday rental to find it exactly as listed. Beaver Lodge at Dragonfly Lake is such a gorgeous location and actually had more to offer than we expected. There were many small touches that made it evident the hosts understand hospitality and wanted us to feel welcome. Another thing we appreciated, due to this cabin being a more "off the grid" rental, was the clear description and instructions provided prior to our arrival. We found everything we needed in the well equipped little kitchen and the king bed upstairs was really comfy (not to mention the view from up there). Towels and linens were provided, which were fresh and clean. Although we spent most of our time outdoors enjoying the fire pit, fishing, walking trails and just relaxing on the deck, the cabin was comfortably warm at night, even when there was an overnight freeze warning in effect. Thank you Casey & Natalie for sharing your beautiful property with others. We really did create some special memories there last week.

Overall great!
My boyfriend and I stayed here for the weekend second week of October. We arrived around 9:30p and it was difficult to see where to go. The lodge is definitely more than 700ft away from parking and it is down a relatively steep gradient. The cart comes in handy! It is secluded and quiet. The water and boats/kayaks made the whole thing worthwhile! We really enjoyed that aspect! The grocery store was about 15 minutes away which was convenient. The grills igniter didn’t work but the cabin had plenty of lighters. The kitchen was fine for light cooking. Overall we had a nice stay!

Just What We Needed
The property was just like it was depicted and the info. Place was quiet, secluded, and simple. We weren't looking for anything fancy, and it wasn't but it was just like it says off the grid. Only complaint was the condition of the pond and the fact that the fishing that was talked about in the right up is not existent. We loved our stay and will strongly consider staying there again.

Too many snakes
There were snakes everywhere. Pond wasn’t stocked. Spiders and mill worms were found in the bed. We arrived and had to park at the top of a gravel hill and walk down and back up about a half mile. We checked in at 4pm and left the same night at 10pm. Didn’t stay the night.

Beautiful, nice, peaceful and relaxing location
Location was amazing. Communication was great before/after the trip. The provided cart to transport items up & down the steep hill was great. We had 1 bar service at parking lot & none at the cabin, therefore any concerns/issues we had couldn't be brought up until afterwards. WiFi calling didn’t work & it was an extremely slow trying to get online to send a message. There were some discrepancies in the listing. There is a TV, DVD player, minimal Wi-Fi. Some items are updated, some run down. Water was barely luke warm & didn’t water get any warmer to wash hands, shower or do dishes. The furniture was not very comfortable. The stairs going up to the bedroom are offset & steep so make sure you have the proper footing & a light for the dark. The grill was filthy, we were glad we found tin foil so we could cook, the cookware looked less than appealing to cook on. The cushions on the wicker couches in the living room had stains all over them and made you not want to sit directly on them. Nature is unpredictable, the lake water was low & not clear like the pictures except around the fountain. It definitely not something we wanted to go into once we got there. The fountain is loud. Overall, it was a great and we would go back again. Sitting on the deck overlooking the landscape and clouds was breath taking. It was nice to be off grid and sit back with nature. Host were very responsive and we believe they would’ve been during our stay had we been able to reach out.

Perfect R & R
Fun drive in beautiful country side on the way there which turns into a one lane road to a gravel path and makes you think… are we going the right way? All part of the fun! Property exactly as described although we expected a lake not a pond. We didn’t mind this though. Amazed and thrilled by the lack of bugs and mosquitoes. Compared to ontario anyway. Tonnes of very well maintained trails on the property that owners allow you to explore. I don’t think the ad has been updated because we had WiFi and Netflix that we could log into with our own account. Kitchen has almost everything. I missed having a large pot and colander for pasta but that’s about it. Pride of ownership is evident. I would not hesitate to book this place if you can manage the walk from the parking lot to the cabin. Owners offer help but we manage fine with the carts provided. You don’t need to bring much more then clothes food and drink. Water is unfiltered spring water. Unsure if it’s drinkable. I boiled it until we bought water the second day
