About this House
Located half a block off King Street and BRAND NEW TO THE RENTAL MARKET, built in 1882 Josephine's Apartment has retained all her charm and with an address in the heart of the city, it is walking access to the best shopping in Charleston. Josespine's is a hidden gem nestled on Society st with double front porches and a huge magical tree in the front courtyard!
A white picket fence marks the address adding ambiance and privacy to the double porches. Upon entering the house you'll be delighted by the unique front door and know you have arrived somewhere special. The first room to the left you will enjoy the library with a perse collection of books, a large dining table and a bar for afternoon cocktails.
Open the pocket doors and you will be in the parlor with one of seven fireplaces that are original to the house. Parlors are quintessential to Charleston homes for entertaining or afternoon tea. Down the hall you will find a powder room, followed by a quaint kitchen, equipped with a dainty retro fridge, induction cooktop, kettle, toaster oven, and a 1940s era french sink.
Enjoy your meals at the table for two while the sunlight filters in through the shaded garden walkway. Across the hall is room No. 6 with a king bed and a place to hang your clothes in the rosy glow of the modern lamps. Positioned in the center of the house, this room is quiet and relaxing. To freshen up, you will have your choice of a full bath appointed with a vintage claw foot tub across the hall or to the right there is a second bathroom with a shower.
At the end of the hall sits bedroom No. 8 that we refer to as the Garden Room. Cozy with a full sized bed, a shower, vanity, and fireplace. You will have access to a small covered porch that enters into the enchanting and secluded garden. If visiting in the winter, don't forget to pick off some oranges from our tree shading the garden for your morning juice or cocktail.
Josephine's apartment has been thoughtfully furnished with eclectic vintage pieces, funky artwork, and a collective of plants in neat pots throughout this home adding to this perfect Charleston getaway.

Great location - within walking distance to most sites, 2 blocks from Forsyth Park. Great shopping and restaurants within blocks. Host wonderful. Very responsive. Outside areas of home very picturesque. Beds very comfortable, plenty of linens available. Good AC. The one shower was terrific- very spacious. The kitchen is fine for breakfast and snacks but small for major cooking - which we were not interested in doing. However, all needed appliances were there and very clean. The eclectic furniture and artwork were all very special. Two couples loved our stay there!!

Wonderful Relaxing Oasis in Perfect Location
We loved our stay for a mother-daughter weekend. The location being one block from a fantastic French patisserie & chocolate shop was an added bonus to an already amazing stay. The location is fantastic. The decor of the house is very fun and very clean! The kitchen was perfect for two but might be cramped for more. We loved getting to eat on the covered front porch while people watching and reading in the back garden was a great way to relax after a busy morning. Would definitely come back. It would be perfect for a girls weekend for a larger group if you also rent the upper apartment.

Excellent location, fabulous shower, very responsive owner. One must remember that this is a century home that comes with those quaint idiosyncrasies associated with such age.

Great Location
Spent three nights with another couple and walked to everything. Had a car but was not needed. Kitchen is limited but adequate for a continental breakfast and given the great restaurants we ate out every night. Ginger was a spot on host.

Great Charleston Experience
This house has such character! Loved the way the home was decorated and the furniture was so vintage. The location is perfect, we walked everywhere we wanted to go. Fine dining, shopping, water front all within walking distance. We needed parking and the owner provided great directions getting us into the parking garage. Loved our stay!

Beyond charming
Two lifelong couples stayed for three nights. The location alone makes this so desirable, a block off from King street! We walked easily all over town. When you had to drive, the adjacent parking structure was awesome. The girls thought the place was decorated “super cute”, the guys agreed it was very historical! Bedrooms and bathrooms were convenient and nice. The kitchenette was small, but adequate. We had a great time and would definitely stay again! Thank you Ginger!

Such a cool, historic place!
The antiques and vibe inside mirrored the property outside! Great porch and courtyard to hang out in, plenty of room in the bedrooms and just a cool spot in historic Charleston!

Ideal location
Ideal location for walking to many of Charleston’s attractions…King’s street with it’s shopping and dining is just a block over and other attractions such as the horse carriage rides, Charleston market and harbor cruises are all within comfortable walking distance. The reason I gave four stars for accuracy of property listing is because we did not realize the separate upstairs is another rental. I may have just missed this detail in the listing but either way it would not deter us from renting again. The bedrooms have white noise machines for use, and I would suggest possibly taking earplugs if you are a light sleeper. Overall, the neighborhood as a whole is quiet and safe for walking at night. The home is so inviting…charming old world eclectic chic! We loved it! It has a front porch and lovely backyard sitting areas. In the mornings, we would have our coffee and pastries from the French bakery next door out there. So relaxing…a step back in time.

It was a great location. Close to the market and attractions in the area.
The apartment was perfect for us. It was a great location. Having a rental car was definitely helpful. The kitchen area is great for heating food or a continental breakfast. There is a wonderful bakery down the street to jump start your day. The small refrigerator worked for us since we planned on dining out most of the time. Great stay across the board!
