About this House

Every day you can choose between world-class Yosemite sites or explore Secret Yosemite sites off the beaten path by hiking out our back door. Wawona has many swimming holes, several natural waterslides that kids love, and two beloved, easy hikes. The Meadow Loop and The Swinging Bridge. To easily access wilderness, which few do, just go out our back door. Google Secret Yosemite Wawona, South Fork of the Merced Wild and Scenic Recreation Corridor, or Best California Swimming Holes on the Chilnuala Falls Trail (pick up Timothy H. Joyce's book, Swimming Holes of California for descriptions and directions too often private swimming holes, some within only a 15-minute hike and/or boulder scramble. Please always use recommended precautions to hike and swim safely.

Other nearby attractions include a Yosemite Visitor Center, the historic Wawona Hotel and its unique dining room, the Wawona Hotel lobby with popular pianist and vocalist Tom Bopp, the Wawona Golf Course, the Wawona Library, specializing in Yosemite books and history, the Yosemite Pioneer History Center, the Wawona School Playground and the Wawona stables. There is a local gas station and two markets to pick up last-minute groceries or sundries. Note: hours and services vary throughout the year.

At home, enjoy our 6 people hot tub, air conditioning, wrap-around deck, and large outdoor gas barbeque, while listening to nearby cascading waterfalls (winter, spring, early summer). There is plenty of room for kids to run and play on park property right off your deck where deer, fawns, and squirrels are frequently seen. Watch for the less commonly seen coyote, woodpeckers, or blue herons by the house or just a few minute's walk to the creek or river. Go exploring!

The loft with a Queen size bed is over the kitchen with views out of the many windows as well as overlooking views of the living and dining rooms. There is also a bedroom with two twin beds, a washer and dryer, and a half bath upstairs.

The master bedroom has a Cal King bed and is downstairs along with a bathroom with a shower.

Reviews indicate that this property is an excellent choice for a Yosemite trip, praised for its great location near the park, cleanliness, and well-stocked amenities including a hot tub and cozy living spaces. Guests appreciated the proximity to natural attractions like streams, waterfalls, and trails, as well as nearby conveniences such as markets and restaurants. While the lack of air conditioning was noted during particularly hot weather, fans and cool nights generally kept the cabin comfortable. Overall, the sentiment is overwhelmingly positive, with many guests expressing a desire to return.
Perfect for a Yosemite trip Great location, well stocked, nice hot tub, set in nature near a beautiful stream, relatively close to the valley village.

Magical Time in Yosemite I celebrated my birthday at Yosemite with a group of my girl friends and we stayed at this incredible cabin. Check in was easy, cabin was super clean and cozy. Loved the fireplace, kitchen and hot tub! So so nice! Beautiful Wawona hotel nearby you can eat dinner at. There’s a wonderful market nearby, gas station, you name it. And less than an hour drive from Yosemite. I would 100% stay at this cabin again and will recommend to all my family and friends. Thank you so much!

Perfect getaway My partner and I enjoyed the fully stocked kitchen, cozy living room, and hot tub. Only con was the small shower, but all the other great things about this property make that easy to overlook. We look forward to visiting again soon!

A fantastic experience Despite day pass restrictions being in place getting in was super easy, they had my name at the gate. The place was beautiful and in great shape when we arrived. The dishwasher was broken but we were warned ahead of time and so far I've found that dishwashers in rental properties are just broken a lot, so not a big deal. It was hot and there is no a/c but the fans do a good job and we kept the windows and doors open as soon as it cooled down every night and never had a single insect try to get inside. The hot tub was clean and in great shape and after turning the temp down a bit was pretty nice even when it was warm out. The location was incredible, the real point I think, as we were able to do a number of things like go drive 5 minutes and swim in the Merced river several times during the trip that were unique to staying in a spot like this. We had young kids so we didn't do much in the way of longer hikes but even just walking down the roads of wawona was super fun.

Yosmite stay This cabin was an excellent place to stay as a base for exploring Yosmite. It had all the comforts and location was great. The only issue was there was no AC during the hottest time in a hundred years, but everything else was awesome. Having several trails right out your back door was really cool. Overall this cabin is definitely a must stay.

Amazing Private Yosemite We absolutely loved our stay at this home in Wawona. There was a creek out back you could hike to and through (recommend water shoes). There were waterfalls, swimming holes, and natural water slides all within walking distance. It was so much less crowded than the Yosemite Valley (although that was still only 45 min away)- our kids begged to go back to Wawona after a day in the Valley! Our 6 yr and 8 yr old boys loved it as did our dog. Giant Sequoias were just a 10 minute drive. Kitchen was well equipped, beds comfortable. Surprisingly AC not needed even in 90+ degree weather due to the great fans and cool nights that kept it cool in house during the day. Wrap around porch and jacuzzi were great. Kids have been begging to go back since we left. Love the Pine Tree Market too. We were so lucky to find this place!
